Welcome to Escalis, a society of female warriors where males are a precious cornerstone of life; without them, society would collapse. Hundreds of years ago this was a prosperous, balanced society of men and women, but over time the men steadily decreased. Fewer males were born until society became tragically affected by the low male birth rates. At one point, the ratio of females to males was 10 to 1. At present, it stands 30 to 1. With male birth rates dwindling, society decreed a special status of protection for males and thus they became the cherished portion of Escalis to bask in a life of leisure. The houses became ruled by the matriarchs and females became the sole warriors. Not every female is required to be a warrior, but a large number of them prefer it for the benefits they obtain through it. Others have taken up trade and various skills to ensure the skills of their society survives.

Over the past twenty years a few more males have been showing up. They are different, some more different and unusual than others. The source of these males have never been revealed but it has been speculated that they have been bought or traded into this society. They resemble humans but they are not completely human. For that reason these males have been closely guarded. A dwindling society could not be picky so the males were accepted and their training began, sometimes willingly and other times very unwillingly.

HOUSES

There are several houses in this society. All fall under different categories; Honorable, Respectable, or Common. Only one is considered the Ruling House which remains neutral to all houses.

  • Ruling House of Drache

  • Honorable Houses

  • Respectable Houses

  • Common Houses

MALES

The few males born are initially raised by their mothers until given over to the Ruling House of Drache after their fifth birthday. They are well cared for and protected till the age of 16 when a male can officially be fought for. In the Ruling House, they lack for nothing. When the males are brought to the Ruling House, they wear a necklace around their necks with a pendant denoting which house they have come from. The various houses of this society pay a tribute every month to the Ruling House to ensure males are well cared for. Males are not taught combat to reduce the stress placed on their bodies. They are kept in peak condition during their stay at the Ruling House. All meals are healthy; they are given plenty of in-door and out-door exercise, taught various skills and trades.

Males are not permitted to socialize with females outside of the Ruling House once they reside there. The only interaction with females of other houses occur at social functions. During their stay at the ruling house, males are well educated in art, language skills, trades, music, gardening, animal care, and home making basics. Since the older males assist in the caretaking of younger males, they are accustom to caring for young children. They are taught about basic bedroom acts, but it is the first protector who teaches/shows them the physical acts done in a bedroom.

FEMALES

  • Not all females are required to fight or have to be warriors.

  • Females will be educated in the schools of their houses.

  • Females wishing to claim a male must fight his protector for him or choose a warrior female to fight in her place. If a female chooses a warrior to fight in her place, she keeps the male that has been won for only half a year.

  • Females are allowed to keep the male they have won for one year. Additional years must be fought for.

  • If a male who has been won is favored by another, the female will have to fight the current protector of that male. If she loses the fight she will have to wait until the male has been returned to the Ruling House to fight for him again.

  • The treatment of the male is up to the current protector of that male. If the male has been ill treated during his stay with the female, she will have to pay a fine upon returning him to the Ruling House at the end of her year. If she kills the male she has won, she will be heavily finned by both the Ruling House and the House that sired that male and also impressioned for the remainder of her life.

  • If a female has a child for the male she has won, she will not have to fight for him for another year.

    • If the child is a female the male will be returned to the ruling house after the second year.

    • If the child is a male, the female will keep the male she won for an additional two years. Every male child borne by the pair will gain them more time together.

FIGHTS

  • Official fights for ranking and claiming of a male will be a supervised affair.

    • Those battles will be fought with three weapons chosen by a neutral supervising party.

    • The winner of the battle will claim in the male in question. If the male resists then he is her problem for the year she has won him for.

    • The winner of the battle will be determined by _________________ (dice roll? Successfully defeating your opponent?)

RULING HOUSE

  • One female of the ruling house must remain pure, free of any fighting.

  • All females of the ruling house are required to protect the males in their care. They are not to abuse their privilege and use the males in their care for their own needs.

  • A female of the ruling house will also have to fight if she wishes to claim a male for her own.

WEAPONS

The dominant weapons in this society are manmade. The society is relatively secluded, surrounded by mountains on three sides and an ocean on the fourth. The main trade is done by ocean unless the merchant chooses to face the treacherous passes of the mountains. Each female warrior is required to master two weapons that she keeps in or near her possession at all times. The only time females are not armed are at social functions in which formal dress is required. Some weapons used include; double edged swords, scythe, swords, bows, axes, glaives, daggers, lances, spears, maces, and various weapons that can be easily handled.
