History:

Born into a wealthy Italian family as Chiana D'Angelo, she was well educated, well

mannered, and spoiled for the age in which she was raised for her mortal years. Traveling

and education were both very important to the once mortal woman. Though her mother

constantly attempted to marry her off into other families to secure her a stable future,

knowing that women could not inherit the lands and wealth of their fathers. Chiana was an

only child, leaving only her suitor, whomever he would be, to inherit her father's wealth and

estate with his passing. However, Chiana did everything in her power to ruin each and

every attempt and set up. This soon deemed her unsuitable for marriage amongst her

community. After fighting with her parents for some time, they finally gave in and allowed

her the chance to have one year to travel abroad before having to return to settle into

marriage with a proper suitor before she were too old to marry off. 

 

With a handful of her father's men, she eventually traveled to the ancient land of Greece. She was entralled with all that Athens had to offer. With such knowledge, how could she possibly wish to leave? While in Athens, she met a young man by the name of Erastus. Something about him was so charming and alluring that even while out of one another's company, all she could think about was him. Even in her dreams she saw him and could swear that she could hear him inside her head. Though, her handmaiden told her she was daydreaming up such conversations. 

 

The night before she had to depart from Athens, she told Erastus of her situation and how she was to be married to a man who cared nothing for her, nor she him. Erastus then cooked up a plan that the two worked further upon when he decided to join her on her journey back to Italy. Her mother nearly died when Chiana broke the news that she and Erastus had wed in Athens. When her father finally accepted the union of the couple, which was nearly a year later, he proclaimed the wealth and estate were to be left to Erastus when he passed on, even if there wasn't a single alive person who could prove that the two were truly married. 

 

Having her parents where he wanted them, Erastus took Chiana to consummate their false union. While her lust was high and her blood was racing, he could no longer control his vampire nature. He would have her at his side for centuries to follow and he gave Chiana no choice as she was to be his no matter what. Her screaming had awoken her parents and Erastus couldn't have his secret learned by them. So, the easiest thing was to kill them while Chiana fought the vamporic change. Blaming the murders upon a group of known rebellious servants, Erastus took claim to the D'Angelo estate. 

 

Over the years, she and Erastus traveled together moving from city to city. The two sired very few and their bloodline was quick to die out for the stupidity of those they sired. Making a pact, the two decided that they would not sire another mortal unless they thought that they stood to gain the world from the mortal. Chiana changed her name after the death of her parents and was known to all aside from her sire as Adair. At one point, Adair had slipped off to hunt down a mortal for the two when an arrangement was made without her consent. It had seemed that Erastus had saved Strahd from what Adair was never informed the details. Thanks to this action, the two were allowed to merge in with the coven the vampire had started. Adair hated the idea but, Erastus saw safety in numbers. The only way this worked was if the two agreed never to challenge Strahd for the position of coven leader, their age giving them the advantage. They agreed to this so long as the other were still alive. Over the years, Erastus took on more and more lovers which only pushed Adair away. 

 

Currently, she and Erastus are apart from one another. Her pomme de sang is missing thanks to the work of Alicia's minions. Adair has also taken a liking to the DeRose coven leader, Alexandrov, trying hard to balance her love and hate for him. Adair has recently wed into the DeRose family and loves her new husband so much that without him she feels she has nothing left to live for.
